East Staffordshire BC Statement of Community Involvement

East Staffordshire Borough Council are proposing to revise the Statement of Community Involvement and are inviting your views.  The Statement of Community Involvement sets out how East Staffordshire Borough Council intends to engage with local communities and stakeholders during the process of plan preparation and when determining planning applications.

The previous Statement of Community Involvement was adopted in 2020 and it is required to be reviewed and updated (where necessary) every 5 years.

Following a recent review, it was considered that an update is appropriate to change the format to include an Executive summary, frequently asked questions and glossary;

include reference to Design Codes and master plans; incorporate name changes of various organisations and reflect the procedures which are currently operated. The change in procedure proposed is to alter the length of time for consultation on a planning application from 21 days to 24 days to account for bank holidays and update how consultation will take place for telecommunications development requiring planning permission.

The revised SPD is subject to consultation, from Thursday 10th July 2025 to midnight on Thursday 21st August 2025. All consultation responses will be considered and reported to Members. If accepted by Members, the revised Statement of Community Involvement, together with any proposed changes, will be adopted for use.

The revised Statement of Community Involvement can be viewed online at: https://www.eaststaffsbc.gov.uk/planning/planning-policy/planning-policy-consultations
