Urgent Information for Constituents Affected by Storm Babet Flooding
Dear Councillor’s
I am writing to bring your attention to a matter of importance for the residents within your constituency who might have been impacted by the recent severe weather conditions during Storm Babet, occurring between October 19th and 25th, 2023.
The government has announced a Flood Recovery Framework offering grants to eligible residents and businesses who flooded during the storm. This is a national scheme and to apply for these grants we must meet certain criteria.
To identify if affected residents and businesses are eligible for the grant, we need to know the impact that flooding from Storm Babet had on properties. If we qualify for the grant, then there may be funds available for them.
Please pass this message onto residents or businesses in your constituency whose properties have been flooded or significantly affected by Storm Babet. Typically, this means internal property flooding, residents having to vacate their homes due to flooding, or significant business disruption.
Impacted residents and businesses need to fill out this short online form before 10 January 2024. They can access this form via this link or by scanning this QR Code: (code on attachment)

If anyone needs help with the form, they can call our customer service team on 0300 111 8000. A customer service advisor will be happy to fill out the form over the phone on their behalf. During the Christmas period our opening times will vary – you can see these on our website: www.staffordshire.gov.uk
If residents or businesses have any evidence of flooding from Storm Babet (e.g., photos, videos) please send these across to us at . We may contact them to understand any flooding experienced or to verify any property flooding.
In addition to understanding eligibility for any grants, the County Council may be able to investigate flooding experienced.
Yours sincerely
Jamie Cooper
Flood Risk Manager
